A few months ago, I received a social media “challenge” from a friend. It asked that I post ten photos of myself in which I thought I looked beautiful. I don’t normally participate in such time-consuming activity, but, I liked the idea of this task. As I flipped through years of photo storage on my laptop, I realized, the time when I looked the most beautiful was when I was pregnant.
That glow people talk about. Well, I had it. I felt it. I was swimming in glow.
In all of the photos taken during my pregnancy, you can see that glow, despite the uncomfortableness and heartburn and all those other lovely things that come with making a baby. In every one, most, mind you, taken in yoga pants with my t-shirt pulled up, I have the biggest smile, the look of pride, the glitter of pure happiness and expectation.
And, that, mamas, is what maternity photography is all about. If you are feeling that glow I’m speaking of, you are going to want to remember it for the rest of your life. Capturing this fleeting spectacular time of your life is so incredibly important.

When to have maternity photos taken: I recommend scheduling your maternity photos between the 30th and 34th week of pregnancy. Of course, mothers of multiples may want to schedule earlier. You’re going to want to have a nice big baby bump, but, you will want to avoid scheduling late-term or you could hit an uncomfortable point that many mothers-to-be experience in the final weeks of pregnancy.Google+
